Contract Negotiations Update: November 7, 2022

CUPE education workers will be back on the job as of tomorrow, November 8, 2022, as bargaining is set to resume.

During a press conference this morning, Doug Ford announced that the provincial government was willing to revoke the legislation that was put in place to prevent the union from striking.

Shortly after, it was announced that CUPE would end the strike as of today. Laura Walton, president of CUPE's Ontario School Board Council of Unions (OSBCU) says she hopes the act of "good faith" on the part of CUPE will be matched by the government when bargaining resumes.

CUPE has stated that if talks are unsuccessful, they will proceed with strike action again.

Stay tuned for further contract negotiation updates.
