Ontario Provides Update on COVID-19 Restrictions

In a press conference Monday morning, Ontario Premier Doug Ford announced that Ontario will be moving to Phase 2 of reopening on February 17, 2022 based on the key COVID-19 indicators.


Effective February 17, 2022 at 12:01 AM:

  • All capacity limits removed in restaurants, bars, casinos, bingo halls, gyms, cinemas and meeting and event spaces

  • 50% capacity: sport arenas, theatres and concert venues

  • 25% capacity: nightclubs, restaurants that include dancing, bathhouses and sex clubs

  • Weddings, funerals and religious services will be capped at the number of people who can maintain a 2 metre distance

  • Social gathering limits of 50 people or less indoors, 100 people or less outdoors

  • Organized public event limits of 50 people or less indoors, no limit outdoors


Effective March 1, 2022:

  • All capacity limits removed

  • All proof of vaccination requirements removed, however, businesses can continue requiring it if desired

  • Mask requirements remain in place
