Severe Thunderstorm Risk Tuesday

The risk for severe thunderstorms will continue across the region today. Hot and humid temperatures will fuel the development of severe thunderstorms this afternoon and evening.

The Golden Horseshoe region is in the Green/Low category, as there is a low risk for severe thunderstorms in this area. The main threat for this area is heavy rainfall.

Southwestern Ontario is in the Elevated/Yellow category. In this region, we expect severe thunderstorms to develop with the main threats being heavy rain and isolated strong wind gusts.

Central and Eastern Ontario are in the Moderate/Orange category. This region can expect the most severe thunderstorms today. The threats will be heavy rain, small hail, strong wind gusts and there is the risk of an isolated tornado.

Severe thunderstorms will develop early this afternoon, around 2 PM, and will continue throughout the evening. The thunderstorms will likely fizzle out by midnight.

Stay tuned for further updates.
