Severe Weather Threat Wednesday

Severe Thunderstorms are likely across the region this afternoon through the overnight hours. The main threat with these storms will be damaging wind gusts. The environment is favourable for the development of tornadoes.


The High/Red area includes Windsor, London, Goderich, Brantford, Kitchener, Kincardine, Tobermory. Barrie, Peterborough, Bracebridge, Parry Sound and Bancroft. In these areas, the main threats will be heavy rain, large hail, strong wind gusts of 100 km/h or greater and the potential for a few tornadoes.


The Moderate/Orange area includes St. Catharines, Hamilton, Toronto and Brighton. In these areas, the main threats will be heavy rain, large hail, strong wind gusts of 100 km/h or greater and the potential for an isolated tornado.


The Elevated/Yellow area includes Belleville, Carleton and Ottawa. In these areas, the main threats will be heavy rain, large hail and strong wind gusts of 100 km/h or greater.


The Low/Green area includes Kingston, Brockville and Cornwall. In these areas, the main threats will be heavy rain and small hail.
