Weather Summary: December 15-17, 2022



A low pressure moved into the region on Thursday, bringing rain, freezing rain and snow to the area. Power outages occurred across the region due to high winds in combination with the freezing rain. School buses were cancelled in multiple regions Thursday and Friday due to the inclement weather and poor road conditions.

Discussion.


A strong weather system brought a significant snowfall to much of

southern and eastern Ontario Thursday through Saturday.

In an earlier weather summary issued by Environment and Climate Change Canada on Friday, rainfall amounts were reported.


"This weather system also brought a significant rainfall to some

areas near the Lake Ontario and Lake Erie shores. Amounts of 30 mm

Several hours of freezing rain were reported across parts of

Southern Ontario Thursday as the system moved in. The freezing rain

combined with gusty winds led to dangerous winter driving conditions

and local power outages.
