Mixed Precipitation Expected Tuesday

A mixed bag of precipitation is expected to move into the region for Tuesday. Rain, snow, ice pellets and freezing rain are all in the mix.

Rain will move into Southwestern Ontario overnight and continue throughout the day tomorrow. The rain is expected to be heavy at times. The heaviest accumulations are expected to be through Southwestern Ontario, the Golden Horseshoe, the GTA and portions of Eastern Ontario.

Freezing Rain is also expected tomorrow, mainly in the Dundalk Highlands where 2 to 6 mm of ice accretion is possible, mainly on elevated surfaces. Trace to 2 mm of ice accretion is possible in areas including Kitchener-Waterloo, Hanover, and portions of Eastern Ontario such as Kingston, Brockville and Ottawa. Freezing rain may mix with ice pellets.

The snow is expected to remain in Eastern and Central Ontario, with most of the snow staying north of Highway 7, where 5 to 10 cm is expected. Trace to 5 cm is expected over portions of Eastern and Central Ontario, including Brockville, Kingston, Peterborough and Midland.

Freezing Rain Warnings and Winter Weather Travel Advisories have been issued by Environment Canada.
