In a press conference Friday, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau provided an update on Canada's COVID-19 vaccine rollout.
Canada will receive 35 million Pfizer booster shots in 2022, as well as 30 million booster shots in 2023. The deal also includes the option to add 30 million doses in 2022 and 2023, as well as an option to receive 60 million doses in 2024.
Canada expects that every adult will be fully vaccinated with both doses of Pfizer, Moderna or AstraZeneca vaccines by the end of September at the latest.
Many experts believe that additional booster shots will be required to protect against new variants of COVID-19. Health Canada plans to authorize these booster shots, as they will likely be similar to how flu shots are administered each year.
