Winter will begin showing it's face across Southern Ontario this weekend, beginning on Sunday. A sharp dip in the jet stream will swing into the area, bringing a surge of much colder air and unsettled weather to the region.

Temperatures will feel much colder on Sunday, which highs expected to be in the low single digits for Deep Southwestern Ontario, and the Niagara region may be in the mid single digits. Much of the area will likely see temperatures below 0ºC.

In addition to the cold temperatures expected, a system will be moving through the region on Sunday. The precipitation type remains uncertain at this time as there are inconsistencies with the exact track of the storm. One of the American models is showing snow is expected for much of the region, with rain in Niagara. Other weather models are outputting solutions that vary in many characteristics, giving a large amount of uncertainty for how much snow will fall and the locations that will be affected.

Going into next week, the Canadian weather model is showing that the lake effect snow machine may kick up Monday into Tuesday.
