Varying weather conditions are expected across the region tomorrow, along with noticeably cooler temperatures.
Some areas will see rain to start tomorrow, and some will see snow. Some areas will remain mainly cloudy through much of the day. Rainfall amounts up to 30 millimetres are possible in Eastern Ontario where Rainfall Warnings are in effect. The frozen ground will have a tough time absorbing the rainfall, possibly leading to flooding. The precipitation will likely begin in the afternoon, with all areas transitioning to snow by the evening hours.
Snow Squall Watches have been posted for Midwestern and Central Ontario. Snow squalls will develop tomorrow evening, likely lasting into Friday with up to 50 centimetres of snow expected for the hardest hit areas. These will likely worsen Thursday.
An additional concern after the rain and snow will be a rapid drop in temperature tomorrow night, which may cause a flash freeze event and black ice to develop on roadways and sidewalks. Stay tuned for further updates.
Freezing Rain is affecting portions of Eastern Ontario once again tonight, with Freezing Rain Warnings in effect. Roadways and sidewalks will likely become slippery. Travel with caution.
Fog is also an issue tonight, with Fog Advisories in effect for much of the region. Fog will continue across much of the region through tomorrow morning. Slow down and drive with caution in areas of poor visibility.
Thursday is expected to bring large changes to the forecast, as wind gusts increase to near 70 km/h and cause whiteout conditions for areas under snow squalls. Wind chills near -20ºC are expected tomorrow night and through the day Thursday.
