Daily Forecast: January 21, 2025

Writer: Austin GagnierAustin Gagnier

Another frigid day is expected across the region tomorrow as snow squalls continue, and bands of lake effect snow move inland again.

Morning wind chills tomorrow will be between -25ºC to -30ºC across much of the region, with portions of Central Ontario likely between -30ºC and -35ºC. Afternoon wind chills tomorrow will remain between -20ºC and -25ºC, providing little relief from the cold weather. Extreme Cold Warnings are in effect for portions of Southwestern and Central Ontario.

Snow squalls will also continue impacting areas off the lakes, however these bands of lake effect snow are expected to reach inland and affect pretty much the whole region. Any of these bands can quickly coat roadways, cause slippery travel and reduce visibility rapidly. Snow Squall Warnings and Snow Squall Watches remain in effect.

The arctic air won't let up until later on Wednesday, and Wednesday will likely be the coldest day of the week as wind chills are expected to fall below -30ºC for many areas in the morning, and may last through the day.

As well, we are monitoring for some gusty winds Wednesday that will likely be near 60 km/h for much of the region, leading to poor travel conditions due to blowing and drifting snow.
