High winds will continue tonight before leading to sunnier skies tomorrow. However, some snow squalls will continue in the morning and more snow will push into the area in the afternoon.
Blowing Snow Warnings, Wind Warnings, Snow Squall Warnings, Blowing Snow Advisories, Winter Weather Travel Advisories and Special Weather Statements all remain in effect tonight. There are road closures in effect and some roads remain impassable.
An intense frontal snow squall will pass through the region during the overnight hours, leading to fast accumulating snow, blowing snow, poor visibility and dangerous travel conditions. Avoid travel tonight, and the morning commute will likely be affected in many areas.
Additional snowfall will begin moving in during the afternoon tomorrow. As the snow moves in, wind gusts may increase once again, near 40 to 50 km/h. Blowing and drifting snow is expected, along with poor visibility. Snowfall amounts of 5 centimetres or less are expected, with areas near the lakes likely seeing over 5 centimetres.
Looking ahead to Wednesday, strong winds of 60 to 70 km/h may develop once again, leading to poor travel conditions. Visit the STORM CENTRE for updates.
