There will be an Elevated risk for severe weather late tonight into the early hours of Friday morning. A line of severe thunderstorms is expected to develop in Michigan and push eastward throughout the late evening hours into early Friday morning, mainly between 10 PM and 3 AM.

The highest risk will be within the Elevated (yellow) risk area. This includes Amherstburg, Essex, La Salle, Leamington, Pelee Island, Tilbury and Windsor. Within these areas, threats are expected to include torrential downpours with rainfall amounts of 40 to 60 millimetres, the risk for an isolated tornado, wind gusts up to 100 km/h and hail 2 to 3 centimetres in diameter.

Further east, the Low (light green) risk area includes Alvinston, Chatham, Mooretown, Petrolia, Rodney, Rondeau Park, Sarnia and Wallaceburg. Within these areas, threats are expected to include torrential downpours with rainfall amounts of 40 to 60 millimetres, the risk for an isolated tornado, wind gusts up to 90 km/h and hail 1 to 2 centimetres in diameter.

The Very Low (green) risk area includes Goderich, London, Lambton Shores, Parkhill, Simcoe, Stratford and St. Thomas. These areas are expected to see torrential rainfall, the potential for wind gusts up to 90 km/h, and a low risk for hail.

The Non-Severe risk area covers the rest of the region. Thunderstorms are expected to remain below severe, bringing torrential downpours and the potential for strong wind gusts.
