There will be an Elevated risk for severe weather across most of the region today, while there is a Low risk for severe weather covering Eastern Ontario and the Niagara region. Severe thunderstorms are expected to develop during the afternoon and evening hours.
The Elevated risk area covers much of the region, including Windsor, Chatham, Sarnia, London, Goderich, Tobermory, Kitchener, Hamilton, Toronto, Barrie, Peterborough, Kingston, Bancroft and Parry Sound. In these areas, threats will include heavy rain, localized flooding, strong wind gusts up to 100 km/h, large hail, and the threat of an isolated tornado cannot be completely ruled out.
The Low risk area includes St. Catharines, Welland, Brockville, Cornwall and Ottawa. In these areas, threats will include heavy rain, localized flooding, strong wind gusts up to 80 km/h, small hail, and frequent lightning.
