Elevated Risk for Severe Weather Wednesday

There will be an Elevated risk for severe weather this afternoon and evening, mainly across Central Ontario. Severe thunderstorms are expected to develop later today and will have the potential to produce strong wind gusts and torrential downpours. In the most affected areas, there will also be the risk for an isolated tornado.
Elevated Risk
Locations: Algonquin Provincial Park, Barrie, Bayfield Inlet, Burk's Falls, Haliburton, Huntsville, Kawartha Lakes, Midland, Orillia and Parry Sound.
Threats: Heavy rainfall with amounts of 40 to 60 mm, the risk for an isolated tornado, wind gusts up to 90 km/h, and hail 2 to 3 cm in diameter.
Low Risk
Locations: Apsley, Bancroft, Burlington, Hamilton, Kaladar, Mississauga, Niagara Falls, Orangeville, Oshawa, Pembroke, Peterborough, Plevna, Port Colborne, Renfrew, St. Catharines, Toronto and Vaughan.
Threats: Heavy rainfall with amounts of up to 40 mm, wind gusts up to 80 km/h, and a slight risk for hail.
Very Low Risk
Locations: Alexandria, Belleville, Brantford, Brockville, Cornwall, Franktown, Guelph, Hawkesbury, Kingston, Kitchener, Ottawa, Owen Sound, Prince Edward, Simcoe, Southampton and Tobermory.
Threats: Heavy rainfall and wind gusts up to 80 km/h.
Non-Severe Risk
Locations: Goderich, Kincardine, London, St. Thomas, Stratford and Woodstock.
Threats: Heavy rainfall.
A Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been issued by Environment Canada.
