There will be an Elevated risk for severe weather this afternoon and evening, particularly in Southwestern and Midwestern Ontario.
A line of thunderstorms is expected to move into Southwestern Ontario between 3 and 6 PM, potentially brining strong wind gusts of 100 km/h or greater as the primary threat. There looks to be a second round of thunderstorms that will move into the area after that line as well. Additional threats will include heavy rainfall which could reach 60 mm with the potential for flash flooding, a risk for an isolated tornado, and hail 2 to 3 cm in diameter.
Additional thunderstorms are expected across the region this afternoon and into the evening, as well as the overnight hours, however the threats are expected to be lower.
Elevated Risk
Locations: Chatham, Goderich, Grand Bend, Kitchener, Leamington, Listowel, London, Sarnia, St. Thomas, Stratford, Wallaceburg, Windsor and Woodstock.
Threats: Heavy rainfall of 40 to 60 mm including the risk of flash flooding, the risk for an isolated tornado, wind gusts of 100 km/h or greater, and hail 2 to 3 cm in diameter.
Low Risk
Locations: Bancroft, Barrie, Belleville, Bracebridge, Brantford, Brockville, Collingwood, Cornwall, Hamilton, Huntsville, Kincardine, Kingston, Midland, Niagara Falls, Orangeville, Orillia, Oshawa, Ottawa, Owen Sound, Parry Sound, Peterborough, Renfrew, Simcoe, St. Catharines, Tobermory and Toronto.
Threats: Heavy rainfall up to 40 mm, the low risk for an isolated tornado, wind gusts up to 90 km/h, and hail 1 to 2 cm in diameter.
