As a low pressure system brings multiple types of precipitation to the region, the most concerning precipitation is the freezing rain expected across Central and Eastern Ontario, as well as portions of the GTA.

Freezing drizzle or freezing rain will begin tomorrow morning for most of the impacted areas, likely continuing through most of the day. The morning and evening commutes are expected to be impacted. Be aware of icy conditions that will develop on roadways and sidewalks.

By tomorrow night, the freezing drizzle or rain will take over in Eastern Ontario as snow moves away. This is expected to continue through Monday night into Tuesday morning, potentially creating icy roadways and sidewalks for the morning commute on Tuesday.

Wind gusts on Monday are expected to reach up to 50 km/h across most of the region. The wind combined with the ice accumulation may cause branches to fall and may lead to power outages.

Freezing Rain Warnings and Special Weather Statements have been issued by Environment Canada.
