
There will be a High risk for severe weather across Eastern Ontario this afternoon and evening, while Southwestern Ontario sees a Moderate risk for severe weather this afternoon and evening, as well as during the overnight hours.
Severe thunderstorms are expected to develop over Eastern Ontario this afternoon and evening. There will also be the potential for severe thunderstorms to develop in Southwestern Ontario during the afternoon and evening hours. A complex of thunderstorms is expected to move into Southwestern Ontario overnight into early Saturday morning.
The High risk area includes Ottawa, Renfrew, Prescott and Russell, and Cornwall. In these areas, threats will include heavy rainfall, the potential for a few tornadoes, wind gusts of 115 km/h or greater and hail 4-5 cm in diameter.
The Moderate risk area in Eastern Ontario includes Brockville, Perth and Lanark. In these areas, threats will include heavy rainfall, the potential for 1 or 2 tornadoes, wind gusts of 110 km/h and hail 3-4 cm in diameter.
The Moderate risk area in Southwestern Ontario includes Windsor, Leamington, Chatham, Wallaceburg and Sarnia. In these areas, threats will include heavy rainfall, the potential for 1 or 2 tornadoes, wind gusts of 110 km/h and hail 3-4 cm in diameter. There will also be the potential for flooding as the complex of thunderstorms moves through overnight.
The Elevated risk area in Eastern Ontario includes Barry's Bay, Bancroft, Kingston and Napanee. In these areas, threats will include heavy rainfall, wind gusts up to 100 km/h, hail 2-3 cm in diameter and the potential for an isolated tornado.
The Elevated risk area in Southwestern Ontario includes London, St. Thomas, Woodstock, Brantford, Simcoe, Stratford, Hamilton and St. Catharines. In these areas, threats will include heavy rainfall, wind gusts up to 100 km/h, hail 2-3 cm in diameter and the potential for an isolated tornado.
The Low risk area includes Goderich, Kitchener, Toronto, Oshawa, Belleville, Peterborough, Huntsville, Parry Sound, Barrie, Midland, Orillia, Tobermory and Owen Sound. In these areas, threats will include heavy rainfall, wind gusts up to 90 km/h and the potential for hail 1-2 cm in diameter.
