There will be a High risk for severe weather this afternoon and evening, with a focus on Extreme Southwestern Ontario once again.
The High risk area includes Windsor, Leamington, Chatham, Wallaceburg and Sarnia. In these areas, threats will include rainfall of 60-80 mm, flooding, the risk for a few tornadoes, wind gusts of 115 km/h or greater and hail 4-5 cm in diameter.
The Moderate risk area includes London, St. Thomas, Seaforth and Goderich. In these areas, threats will include heavy rainfall, the risk for 1 or 2 tornadoes, wind gusts of 110 km/h and hail 3-4 cm in diameter.
The Elevated risk area includes Kincardine, Hanover, Listowel, Stratford, Woodstock and Simcoe. In these areas, threats will include heavy rainfall, wind gusts up to 100 km/h, and hail 2-3 cm in diameter. The risk for an isolated tornado in this area cannot be ruled out.
The Low risk area includes Tobermory, Owen Sound, Port Elgin, Orangeville, Oakville, Kitchener, Hamilton, Brantford and Niagara Falls. In these areas, threats will include heavy rainfall, wind gusts up to 90 km/h and hail 1-2 cm in diameter.
The Very Low risk area includes Parry Sound, Midland, Barrie, Newmarket and Toronto. In these areas, threats will include heavy rainfall and wind gusts up to 80 km/h.
The Non-Severe risk area includes Huntsville, Oshawa, Peterborough, Belleville, Kingston, Bancroft, Brockville, Cornwall, Barry's Bay, Renfrew and Ottawa. We are expecting thunderstorms to remain below severe levels in these areas. Threats will include heavy rain and wind gusts up to 70 km/h.
