Low Risk for Severe Weather Sunday



As heavy rainfall continues across Southwestern Ontario, there will be a low risk for severe weather this afternoon and evening. Thunderstorms may develop, with the main threats being heavy rain and flooding.


The Low risk area includes Windsor, Chatham, Sarnia, London, Hamilton, Niagara Falls, Kitchener, Toronto, Peterborough, Kingston, Brockville, Cornwall and Ottawa. In these areas, threats will include heavy rain, a low potential for a weak tornado, local flooding, strong wind gusts up to 80 km/h, and frequent lightning. Conditions may also be favourable for the development of funnel clouds.


The Very Low risk area includes Goderich, Kincardine, Tobermory, Barrie, Parry Sound, Huntsville, Bancroft and Barry's Bay. In these areas, threats will include heavy rain, local flooding, and frequent lightning. There is also a low potential for the development of funnel clouds.
