After a crippling ice storm this weekend in Central and Eastern Ontario, we are monitoring another risk for freezing rain mid-week. However, this event will not be nearly as impactful and severe as the ice storm seen this weekend.

Rain and freezing rain is expected Wednesday, and there may even be the potential for some snow. Freezing rain is expected across Midwestern, Central and Eastern Ontario during the day Wednesday and into Wednesday night. Wind gusts near 60 km/h are expected to worsen the situation, likely leading to further tree damage, and branches falling.

In addition, significant rainfall is expected from this system, along with the potential for thunderstorms. Some thunderstorms may be severe. Rainfall amounts over 50 millimetres will be possible, and there will likely be a concern for flooding.

Environment Canada has issued a Special Weather Statement for all of Southern Ontario.
