Ontario Announces Removal of Mask Mandate

The Ontario government has announced they will remove the mask mandate for the province as of March 21, 2022.

Masks will no longer be required in areas such as restaurants, gyms, large event spaces and in schools.

However, masks will continue to be required in high risk settings such as public transit, hospitals, retirement homes, long-term care homes, shelters and jails. In these settings, it is expected that masks can be removed as of April 27, 2022.

New COVID-19 isolation guidance has also been announced. Effective immediately, no isolation is required for household or non-household contacts of a positive COVID-19 case. Immunocompromised individuals must isolate for 10 days. Self-monitoring for symptoms is recommended.
