Ontario Announces Second Province-wide Shutdown

In a press conference Thursday afternoon, the Ontario government announced the second province-wide shutdown for Ontario.

The shutdown will begin on Saturday, April 3, 2021 at 12:01 am. The shutdown will last at least four weeks.

Restrictions:

• Everyone must work from home unless they must be on-site at their workplace

• Indoor organized public events and social gatherings are not allowed, except with members of the same household

  • Individuals who live alone may gather with another household

• Outdoor organized public events and social gatherings must not exceed 5 people.

Open:

• Schools

• Supermarkets and other stores that primarily sell groceries, convenience stores and pharmacies - 50% capacity

• All other retail, including discount and big box retailers, liquor stores, cannabis stores, hardware stores and garden centres - 25% capacity

• Weddings, funerals and other religious services, rites or ceremonies - 15% capacity

• Restaurants - Takeout, Drive-Thru and Delivery only

• Libraries - Contactless Curbside, Delivery or Pick-Up only

Closed:

• Amusement parks, water parks

• Bathhouses and sex clubs

• Casinos, bingo halls and gaming establishments

• Concert venues, theatres and cinemas (includes drive in or drive through events)

• Day camps

• Horse racing (open for training only, no races or spectators)

• Indoor and outdoor recreational amenities

• Motorsports

• Museums and cultural amenities

• Personal care services

• Ski hills, golf courses and driving ranges

• Tour and guide services

• Zoos and aquariums (permitted to operate for the care of animals)
