Another Round of Mixed Precipitation Wednesday into Thursday

Another round of mixed precipitation will affect the region tomorrow into Thursday morning. This time, we are expecting more freezing rain in Eastern Ontario while the rest of the region sees rain.

The rain will move into Southwestern Ontario and push eastward throughout the day. Some areas, encompassed in the Trace to 2 mm forecast area, may see freezing rain due to temperatures being near the freezing mark. As the precipitation reaches Eastern Ontario by the afternoon, it is expected to transition to freezing rain. Freezing rain is expected to continue for multiple hours before coming to an end Thursday morning.

The rest of the region is expected to see rain for the day. Localized flooding or ponding on roads will be possible as the ground may have a difficult time absorbing the rainfall.

As stated, much of the freezing rain will be contained to Eastern Ontario. The most affected areas will include Brockville, Cornwall and Perth where between 6 and 10 mm of ice accretion is expected. Roads and sidewalks are expected to become ice covered and slippery in any area that receives freezing rain.

The most affected areas will be the shores of Lake Erie, including St. Thomas, Simcoe, St. Catharines where 30 to 40 mm of rain is expected. Flooding will be possible for any areas receiving rainfall.
