Contract Negotiations Update: November 16, 2022

During a press conference this morning, the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) announced that they were giving a 5 day notice for strike action, meaning the union would be on a full withdrawal of services as of Monday, November 21, 2022, if an agreement is not reached.

Prior to the press conference, Minister of Education Stephen Lecce released the following statement: “We are disappointed that only a few short days after talks restarted, CUPE has filed notice to once again shut down classrooms. Since resuming talks, we’ve put forward multiple improved offers that would have added hundreds of millions of dollars across the sector, especially for lower income workers.”

In the event that an agreement is not reached, a list of school closures will be posted. Stay tuned for further updates.
