Daily Forecast: August 24, 2022

Another day filled with sun and cloud is expected tomorrow. There will be a 30-40% chance of showers across the region in the afternoon.

A Funnel Cloud Advisory remains in effect for:

  • Brockville - Prescott

  • Gananoque - Mallorytown

  • Merrickville-Wolford - Kemptville

  • Ottawa North - Kanata - Orléans

  • Ottawa South - Richmond - Metcalfe

  • Smiths Falls - Perth - Eastern Lanark County

  • Westport - Charleston Lake

Conditions are favourable for the development of funnel clouds this afternoon.

These types of funnel clouds are generated by weak rotation under rapidly growing clouds or weak thunderstorms. This weak rotation is normally not a danger near the ground. However, there is a chance that this rotation could intensify and become a weak landspout tornado. Landspout tornadoes do not usually cause significant damage but can still be dangerous. They can be strong enough to topple trees, damage roofs or toss debris short distances.

High temperatures will range from 25ºC to 30ºC across the region. Temperatures in red represent forecasted humidex values.
