FUTUREVIEW: Rain and Snow Expected This Weekend

POSTED: 12:08 PM, March 6 2024

As stated in our Daily Forecast yesterday, we are monitoring a system that will move into the region towards the weekend.

Rain is expected to move into the area on Friday, likely later in the afternoon and move across the region. Exact rainfall amounts still need to be determined, however many of our models are indicated the potential for amounts over 30 mm in many areas.

As some colder air wraps around as the system exits the region Saturday night into Sunday morning, snow will be possible, including the potential for some heavy snowfall rates. Strong wind gusts also possible, potentially over 70 km/h, leading to blowing snow and poor visibility. There will be the slight potential for freezing rain during the transition from rain to snow.

Snow Squalls are expected to develop off Lake Huron and Georgian Bay by Sunday morning, continuing through the day. Exact snowfall amounts have yet to be determined.

Please note that precipitation types, wind speeds, precipitation totals and timing remain uncertain at this time. Please monitor for further updates. A STORM CENTRE update will be issued if required.
