Rain and Thunderstorms Expected Thursday into Friday

Rain will begin to move into Southwestern Ontario tomorrow morning, continuing for much of the day before moving out Friday morning. There is the potential for quite a few breaks in the rain during the day tomorrow.

Much of the region will see 10 to 20 mm of rain by Friday morning, while Eastern Ontario will see very little rain, only Trace to 5 mm.

We are also expecting the potential for some lightning through the day tomorrow, meaning thunderstorms will be possible. Any area that receives thunderstorms may receive locally heavier rainfall and increase rainfall totals.

Flooding will be possible, particularly in areas of poor drainage. During heavy downpours, some ponding water is possible on the roads.

There is also a rather low potential for severe weather during the afternoon and evening hours as the environment becomes slightly favourable for development. There is much uncertainty at this time regarding how much instability will move into the region, mainly Windsor-Essex and Chatham-Kent. A Severe Weather Outlook will be issue if needed.
