Updated: Feb 17, 2021

UPDATE: This alert has ended.

Ended: 3:21 PM EST Tuesday 16 February 2021

Issued: 9:06 AM EST Tuesday 16 February 2021

Environment Canada has issued a Snow Squall Warning for:

  • Sarnia - Petrolia - Western Lambton County

Details:

Snow squalls are expected. Under the snow squall bands, visibilities will be significantly reduced due to the heavy snow combined with blowing snow, and snow will quickly accumulate. Snow squalls are expected to move in off of Lake Huron this morning. This snow is expected to be heavy at times and accumulations of 10 to 15 cm is possible. Strong winds and gusts of up to 50 km/h are expected to produce local blowing snow which could reduce visibility significantly. Conditions are expected to improve later this afternoon when the wind direction shifts to the northwest.

Prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions. Visibility will be suddenly reduced to near zero at times in heavy snow and blowing snow. Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions. Consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve. Snow squall warnings are issued when bands of snow form that produce intense accumulating snow or near zero visibilities.
