Issued: 9:16 AM EST Tuesday 16 February 2021

Environment Canada has issued a Snow Squall Watch for:

  • Watford - Pinery Park - Eastern Lambton County

Details:

Snow squalls are expected to develop. Under the snow squall bands, visibilities will be significantly reduced due to the heavy snow combined with blowing snow, and snow will quickly accumulate. Snow squalls are expected to move in off of Lake Huron later this morning or afternoon. This snow is expected to be heavy at times and accumulations of 10 to 15 cm is possible. Strong winds and gusts of up to 50 km/h are expected to produce local blowing snow which could reduce visibility significantly.

Travel may be hazardous due to sudden changes in the weather. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow. Consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve. Snow squall watches are issued when conditions are favourable for the formation of bands of snow that could produce intense accumulating snow or near zero visibilities.
