STORM CENTRE: March 22-23, 2024

LAST UPDATE: 12:46 PM, March 21 2024

NEXT UPDATE: 9:00 PM, March 21 2024

Discussion

Snow will begin to move into the region late Thursday into Friday morning. For most areas, the snow is expected to continue through the day into Friday night. In Southwestern Ontario, there will likely be a break in the snow during the afternoon. In Eastern Ontario, the snow is expected to taper off Saturday morning. The largest snowfall accumulations are expected in Midwestern Ontario, portions of Eastern Ontario, and the GTA.

One of the uncertainties at this time is the expected snowfall in Southwestern Ontario. There is the potential for warm temperatures to cause snow to change to rain, or even freezing rain. The potential axis of freezing rain is expected for much of Southwestern Ontario, stretching from Windsor to London, then to Simcoe and the Niagara region. More details will be provided on expected freezing rain amounts in a future STORM CENTRE update, if deemed necessary.

The morning and evening commutes are expected to be impacted due to accumulating snow. Wind gusts are expected to be near 40 to 50 km/h, potentially causing blowing and drifting snow, as well as poor visibility.

Additional forecast updates will be published if deemed necessary. Please stay tuned for further updates.
