UPDATE: Low Severe Risk This Afternoon and Evening


There will be a Low risk for severe weather this afternoon and evening across Southwestern Ontario, particularly near Lake St. Clair and Lake Erie. There is some uncertainty regarding the threat, however, some thunderstorms will be capable of producing severe hazards. Much of the region will see non-severe thunderstorms, with the main threat being lightning.


The time frame appears to be between 6 PM and 9 PM at this time. During this time, the environment may be favourable for thunderstorms to move into the area that may reach severe limits.

Low Risk

Locations: Chatham, Leamington, Port Stanley, Simcoe, Rondeau Park, St. Thomas and Windsor.

Threats: Heavy rainfall with 20-40 mm possible from heavy downpours, local flooding, the risk for an isolated tornado, wind gusts up to 90 km/h, and hail 1-2 cm in diameter.


Very Low Risk

Locations: Brantford, Fort Erie, Grand Bend, London, Niagara Falls, Sarnia and St. Catharines.

Threats: Heavy rainfall with 20-40 mm possible from heavy downpours, wind gusts up to 80 km/h, a slight risk for hail, and lightning.


Non-Severe Risk

Locations: Algonquin Park, Bancroft, Barrie, Belleville, Cornwall, Goderich, Hamilton, Huntsville, Kincardine, Kingston, Kitchener, Oshawa, Ottawa, Owen Sound, Parry Sound, Peterborough, Tobermory and Toronto.

Threats: Heavy rainfall and lightning.
