Environment Canada has continued the Severe Thunderstorm Watch for:
Chatham-Kent - Rondeau Park
Windsor - Leamington - Essex County
Details:
Conditions remain favourable for the development of locally severe thunderstorms early this evening. The main concern with these thunderstorms will be locally strong wind gusts up to 100 km/h and hail up to 2 to 3 cm in diameter. The severe threat should end by later this evening as any severe storms move southeast of the area.
Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles. Water-related activities may be unsafe due to violent and sudden gusts of wind over bodies of water. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors!
Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when atmospheric conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms that could produce one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall.
