There will be the potential for severe thunderstorms today, with the main threat region being across Eastern Ontario. There is also the risk of severe thunderstorms across much of Southwestern and Central Ontario. The thunderstorms are expected to develop late in the afternoon, between 3 and 5 PM.
Area Breakdown
The Elevated (Yellow) category includes:
Oshawa, Belleville, Peterborough, Kingston, Brockville, Cornwall, Ottawa and Bancroft.
In these areas, the main threats will be heavy rain, small hail, strong wind gusts up to 90 km/h, and the risk for an isolated tornado.
The Low (Dark Green) category includes:
Windsor, Chatham, London, St. Thomas, Simcoe, Kitchener, Hamilton, Niagara Falls, Toronto, Orangeville, Barrie, Bracebridge and Barry's Bay.
In these areas, the main threats will be heavy rain, small hail and strong wind gusts up to 90 km/h.
The Very Low (Light Green) category includes:
Sarnia, Goderich, Listowel, Kincardine, Port Elgin, Wiarton, Tobermory, Collingwood, Midland, Parry Sound and Huntsville.
In these areas, the main threats will be heavy rain and small hail.
