Severe Weather Threat Wednesday

Severe Weather is likely across the region today. Hot and humid temperatures will be the fuel for these storms to develop.


A Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been issued for some areas. For more details, click here.


The greatest risk for severe thunderstorms will be in Extreme Southwestern Ontario, including regions such as Windsor, Sarnia, Chatham, London and Simcoe. This area is under the Moderate/Orange risk category. In these regions, the greatest risks will be heavy rain, small hail, strong wind gusts and the risk for an isolated tornado.


Further east, regions such as Goderich, Kitchener, Hamilton and Niagara Falls are in the Elevated/Yellow risk category. In these regions, the greatest risks will be heavy rain, small hail, strong wind gusts.


The risk is less the further east you go. Regions such as Tobermory, Orangeville, Oakville and Owen Sound are in the Low/Green risk category. In these regions, the greatest risks will be heavy rain and strong wind gusts.


Regions such as Toronto, Barrie and Midland are in the Very Low/ Light Green risk category. In these regions, the greatest risks will be heavy rain and strong wind gusts.
