Snow will begin to move into Southwestern Ontario around 10 pm on Thursday night. 5 to 10 cm is expected across most of the region. In the Niagara region, little accumulation is expected where we have forecasted Trace to 5 cm.
Blowing and drifting snow will also be a concern for this system. While heavy snow is falling at 1 AM on Friday across the region, strong winds will accompany the heavy snow. Wind gusts of 70 to 80 km/h are expected for most areas, with becoming lighter further to the east.
By 7 AM Friday, the winds will continue gusting from 60 to 70 km/h for most areas, with gusts from 70 to 80 km/h expected for the Niagara region. The wind gusts will remain from 60 to 70 km/h throughout the day on Friday before easing late in the evening.
Environment Canada has a Winter Weather Travel Advisory in effect for many regions. Details are available here.
