Snow squalls will begin to develop off Lake Huron and Georgian Bay this afternoon, bringing additional snowfall to areas already impacted by snowfall.

The most impacted areas are expected to be the Northern Bruce Peninsula, which would include Lion's Head and Tobermory, as well as areas to the southeast of Georgian Bay, including Midland, Coldwater and Hillsdale. These areas are expected to see 15 to 25 centimetres of snow, with the potential for locally higher amounts.

Weather and road conditions are expected to deteriorate quickly, especially in areas that already have existing snowbanks. Strong wind gusts near 60 km/h will continue through early Friday morning, leading to blowing and drifting snow which will cause poor visibility and create snow drifts on roadways.

Road closures will be possible, especially while wind gusts remain strong, as roads may drift in fairly quickly.

Snow squalls will begin weakening late Friday morning into the afternoon hours.
