Discussion

Rain will begin moving into Southwestern Ontario this afternoon and push eastward, continuing through the day on Saturday. The rain will begin wrapping up Saturday afternoon from west to east. Local flooding will be possible, especially in areas with poor drainage. There is a slight risk for thunderstorms, bringing lightning as well.

Freezing Rain will be possible in the Ottawa Valley as the rain starts. Surfaces may become icy quickly. However, there is uncertainty regarding if freezing rain will fall and the locations. A further update will be issued if required.

Wind gusts up to 90 km/h are expected on Saturday, mainly during the morning into the afternoon before weakening. Ensure any loose outdoor objects are secured or brought inside.

Cold air will move into the area on Sunday morning, changing rain to snow showers and sparking snow squalls off Lake Huron and Georgian Bay. We are not expecting large accumulations, however the rain will change to snow for the Ottawa Valley where we expect 10 to 15 cm through Sunday. Blowing snow will be possible off Lake Huron and Georgian Bay on Sunday.

UPDATE - Snow Squall Watch issued Saturday afternoon. Environment Canada states that 10 to 15 cm of snow is expected as lake effect snow squalls begin tonight into Sunday. Blowing snow and poor visibility are also expected. Conditions are expected to improve Sunday evening.
