The first heat wave of the season has begun and is expected to continue through the week. High temperatures are expected to remain in the low to mid 30s each day, with the potential to reach to reach the mid to high 30s locally. Humidex values are forecasted to be in the low to mid 40s, with the potential for some areas to reach the mid to high 40s.

There will be a few caveats for how warm temperatures get each day. For areas along the lakeshore, temperatures will be cooler. Due to the hot and humid conditions, showers and thunderstorms may develop each day across the region. Any area that receives showers and thunderstorms may be cooler through the day.

Environment Canada has issued a Heat Warning for all of Southern Ontario. They state that dangerously hot and humid temperatures are expected this week. Everyone is encouraged to stay hydrated and avoid time outdoors. Extreme heat is very dangerous, with children, pets, and the elderly being most affected.

Although temperatures on Monday are expected to be slightly cooler in Eastern Ontario, from Tuesday to Thursday, we are expecting humidex values to be between 40 and 45°C across the region. Forecasts for Friday to Sunday will be posted in the coming days.
