As low pressure moves into the area over the weekend, it will combine with cold temperatures in higher levels of the atmosphere, along with enough spin to allow Waterspouts to develop.
Environment Canada has issued a Waterspout Watch for Northern and Southern Lake Huron, as well as Northern and Southern Georgian Bay. They state that the risk will begin overnight Friday into Saturday, and continue through the day Saturday.
Waterspouts develop from weak rotation from weak thunderstorms or passing showers. Lake-effect showers are expected to develop off the Great Lakes throughout the day on Saturday.
Mainers should take precautions and monitor for further forecast updates if planning to be on the water. Take shelter and head to shore immediately if threatening weather approaches.
