Discussion
An approaching system will bring widespread snowfall to Southern Ontario throughout the day Sunday.
The Greater Toronto Area is likely to see the most impacts from this system, as lake enhancement is likely to increase snowfall totals. Widespread snow will move into Southwestern Ontario during the morning hours on Sunday and will reach Central Ontario by the afternoon hours.
Heavy snowfall rates will be possible throughout the day Sunday as well, especially for areas along Lake Ontario where the lake enhancement is highlighted in our Snowfall Outlook. Road conditions are expected to quickly deteriorate across the region as snow begins.
Wind gusts of 40 to 50 km/h are expected across the region during the day, which will lead to blowing and drifting snow, especially in open areas.
It is very important to note that this system has been moving towards a more northern track for multiple days, leading to more snowfall for areas mainly along Lake Huron and Georgian Bay. Any change in the storm track will change snowfall totals. It is possible that the storm track may shift further north once again, which would increase snowfall amounts. A shift southward would decrease snowfall amounts.
