Contract Negotiations Update: October 31, 2022

Yesterday, on October 30, 2022, the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) announced that they were giving a 5 day notice for strike action, meaning the union would be on a full withdrawal of services as of Friday, November 4, 2022, if an agreement is not reached.

Today, Minister of Education, Stephen Lecce announced a contract to avert a strike, to keep students in the classroom on Friday. Although the province is tabling legislation to avoid the strike, CUPE has stated that they will remain on a full withdrawal of services as of Friday, November 4, 2022 if an agreement is not reached.

In the event that an agreement is not reached, a list of school closures will be posted. Stay tuned for further updates.
